Cobb School History
Cobb Children’s Learning Center (Cobb School) was founded in 1994 under the corporate name of Cobb Street Children’s Learning Center to provide an excellent academic private school in the Greater Roseburg area. Our school is tuition-based and subsidized with grants and fund raisers. The child care began in 1994 with a 4-year-old program which now runs 5 half days, morning or afternoon. The kindergarten class is one of the few full day programs in the Roseburg area. The following year we added grades 1-8. Several of our original child care babies have now graduated from 8th grade!
After a very small start, the school has grown from 10 students to 91 in the fall of 2009. The school is the vision of Sr. Jeanita Richter. Her years of experience as a teaching Sister for the Sisters of Mercy clarified her goals for a school. As a teacher and administrator, she knew that the combination of the arts and academics were essential to every well rounded student. That combination has helped Cobb School become successful in developing an environment in which children thrive.
